Aaah reading this post made me realize how much I miss you! It's just been RIDICULOUSLY long. But...I love the wildness of your intention for next year, love this "fuck it, I'm here to play and create" energy. Totally with you there <3

We desperately need a reunion! And yes--here's to doing whatever we want in 2025!

Not going to lie, Jess, I was a little heartbroken. But I'm not taking it personally, at all. And I meant what I said, I'm rooting for your success in whatever you do. I'm proud to have sold the books I sold for you and even more proud to call you a friend. You're brave. You're talented. I can't wait to see what you do next! Onward! xoxoxo

It wasn't an easy decision, by any means. Part of a reinvention, perhaps. And I am, and will always be, grateful for your belief in me and my stories. And our friendship! It is pretty great to know we will still chat and probably cross paths at Highlights...and who knows what comes down the line!

And now that there’s no agent/client power thingy (not that there ever was but…)we could exchange writing, peer to peer, if we wanted to!

Me too! Especially if we’re both writing for grownups!

Pretty much all I’m doing anymore! That and tinkering on older stuff I still love. I have three adult projects in very beginning stages. Maybe if I can get my ass in gear and really focus we can exchange pages later next year!

It sounds like good vibes all around! I'm on a similar journey. Broke up with my agent and so glad to have no more Negative Nellie's and gatekeepers--and to explore my creativity on my terms (and publish all the multiple books on my computer)! Good for you, too. :)

I'm also feeling peaceful in solitude but balancing it with social connection too as I need that for my mental health. And it's funny as I've dabbled in the idea of also getting my TEFL/TESOL cert. If you do start this work, let me know how it goes. So glad Joe is in a good place after what you've all been through! Every day truly is a gift. Life is short. Make the most of it. This year was a transformative, explorative year for me and I embraced the new and let the old go that drained me and weighed me down. Sounds like for you too. I hope your 2025 is full of good health and good spirits--and new endeavors!

And YAY for turning 50 in 2025. The 50s ROCK! All about stepping into your truth and embracing your path with no obstacles and no people pleasing. :)

Haha...we are freebirds together! Yeah, I think it's a good move, honestly. Shakes things up a bit, lets you explore whatever you want. And if I learned anything with traditional publishing it's that it honestly didn't do much for my "career". I mean the pandemic was a huge part of destroying any chance I had, so it's not only the industry, but I just think it's time to start over with a clean slate! And the fact that I saw immediate gains is pretty intriguing. More on that later... Wishing you guys a wonderful 2025 as well. Miss you and hope you're doing well!

A clean slate is wonderful! I feel that way, too. A blank canvas to explore and create. :)
