Perfectly--and sadly--said, Jess! I've had the same questions myself. I've decided I'm more than a writer, I'm a creator. Perhaps the writing life can be so much more than just "writing". It's good to take a break from it. I'm doing that now and also questioning what IS it that I DO want to write now at this time in my life after years of writing for one audience. So many writers must reinvent themselves to keep going. I wish I had the answers for all of us on the struggle to find our way with the artists life. I do know it's always evolving and when one opportunity falls flat, another comes along--if we open ourselves up to it. I hope so for you and I can't wait to read Monolith!
I love ALL these thoughts Jess! The real, the inspiring, the gritty…
Just keep swimming, right?
I totally feel you on everything you said here.
What a boat we are all in, pushing against the current.

I'm open to it all--whether or not I have time to do it all is a bigger question...haha!
